2007 CMP Centennial National Matches
Above is a "Creation of the National Matches" poster like the one I received at the National Matches held at Camp Perry, OH during the week of July 29th. Mine has been framed, and has a special place on the wall of our family room. The poster commemorates President Roosevelt’s role in promoting marksmanship and creating the National Matches. The quote is as follows:
The great body of our citizens shoot less as time goes on. We should encourage rifle practice among schoolboys, and indeed among all classes, as well as in the military services by every means in our power. Thus, and not otherwise, may we be able to assist in preserving peace in the world…The first step – in the direction of preparation to avert war if possible, and to be fit for war if it should come – is to teach men to shoot. -President Theodore Roosevelt's last message to Congress
Due to 99 years of scheduling conflicts, this year was my fist year in attendance. During my time at Camp Perry, I had the opportunity to meet and share the firing line with some of the best military and civilian marksmen in the Country and the World including the Australian High Power Team.
I hope to post some pictures that are worth a 1,000 words at some point. Until that time, enjoy the poster, the quote, and the shooting range of your choice. If you are able to comprehend it, the quote is quite powerful and it puts things in the proper perspective.

Ahhh! So you are BIG TIME into shooting competitions? I'm only "decent" at about 10-20 yards with a pistol. After that all bets are off. I knew you liked shooting and that you practiced a bit--had no idea you were a die-hard though. Awesome!
