"Trinity United Church of Christ"

Below are some of my postings related to Obama's Church, "Trinity United Church of Christ" and their mission statement.

Their statement says, "We are made up of the highly educated and the uneducated. Our congregation is a combination of the haves and the have-nots; the economically disadvantaged, the under-class, the unemployed and the employable."

Then they say, "The fortunate who are among us combine forces with the less fortunate to become agents of change for God who is not pleased with America’s economic mal-distribution!"

If this church was so concerned about "America’s economic mal-distribution" in America, when why are they not concerned with "mal-distribution" among members of their own church? Concern about "mal-distribution" in America is just more of the Socialist/Communist ideas of governmental equal redistribution of wealth. The concepts of the mal-distribution of studying, and working hard to increase ones economic outlook is never mentioned, because creating lazy government dependents is the objective.

Furthermore, where is the scriptural basis for their statement?

I have read, "Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver."(2 Corinthians 9:7)

The churches statement should be that like giving you life, talents, or any other gift; giving to the poor is based on faith and a belief that God is the source of all of all our blessings. Giving is not based on a mandate by government or the church in an attempt to create equality. It is based on a free will that is a gift from God. Only those who want government to be seen as the ultimate force of good would believe that God is concerned about America making the distribution equal. God wants the worship, praise and faith in Him from individual believers for our blessings. Our praise and faith should not be for countries and governments that want to be seen as the source of blessings.

I would never attend this church, and IMO anyone who believes, has faith, and is able to read and understand God's word wouldn't either.

PAA: "Ask yourself this, does it really matter if one perceived racist does the same thing (change his views) as another perceived racist?"

Your example only hold true if the perceived racist was the leader of the church attended by someone seeking the office of POTUS. I think the topic of discussion is Obamas Church, its leadership, and their sudden need to change their mission statement solely due to the negative effect it had on Obama's run for president. People can change for the better (even racist). However, the church is suppose to answer to an authority much higher than a presidential candidate and it should not make decisions based on political pressure or approval. Therefore, when so-called religious organizations and leaders change for political reasons, it shouldn't go unnoticed. (And it doesn't go unnoticed by those of us who are concerned with things beyond the physical level.) One thing is for certain. Whatever is influencing their decision to change, it is not of God.

"Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever." (Hebrews 13:8)
